'Matter out of Place' and panel discussion
KIZ ROYALKINO, Conrad-von-Hötzendorfstraße 10, 8010 Graz 500 meters from Jakominiplatz, Line 4 & 5 stop "Finanzamt" directly at the cinema
In cooperation with the local cinema KIZ RoyalKino, the new film 'Matter Out of Place' by renowned Austrian director Nikolaus Geyrhalter will be presented that evening. In impressive images, the film follows the garbage across the planet and shows the eternal struggle of people to master this vast amount of waste.
We are in the age of the Anthropocene, which forms the core theme of the symposium: The question thus arises inasmuch effective up-to-date critical perspectives, approaches and calls to action could be developed. This film puts the accent on man's interaction with nature and thus on a central theme for the entire conference. With the film and the discussion we want to put possibilities of a responsible handling of ourselves and the resources of the earth in the center of the discussions as well as to discuss the possibilities of art and science to initiate a practice-relevant critical reflection.
The film screening of Nikolaus Geyrhalter's 'Matter Out of Place' takes place at the cinema KIZ RoyalKino on June 1st 6pm. Afterwards, there will be a discussion of the film with the following participants:
Sophia Laggner, Assistant Director/2nd Director and Production Manager 'Erde', 'Matter Out of Place'
Barbara Brunner, Program director KIZ RoyalKino
Stefan Baumgarten and Susanne Kogler (University of Graz)
